When did you first become involved with Scouting?
I started my adventure in 1st grade and continued I to my teens. I am now introducing my boys to the amazing world of scouting.
What is your favorite scouting memory?
Memory that sticks with me the most was a 50-miler that started a bit too early in the spring in the not quite thawed Cascades. We saw a full range of weather and dug deep to push through hiking for a day in the snow, scaling down the side of mountain due to a trail being washed out and having to navigate via a map and compass. I can still remember the smell of all of us as we reached the end of our journey - determination.
What do you think is the most beneficial part of Scouting?
Scouting provides the opportunity of growth individually, as a team, and as part of your community. I believe the key to this growth is providing a variety of activities based on the theme of the badge being earned that may not be provided anywhere else other than scouts.
What would you say to somebody that is looking into joining Scouts?
Test the waters and you might just find that full immersion is what you are looking for as an opportunity to be involved in a variety of activities for you and your child to bond and grow.
Anything you want to add?
What else would I add, hmmmm. With patience, grass eventually becomes milk. 😉
